Comics of the Day

Worst: Even worse than yesterday's. Actually, I think it might be the worst pun we've seen in the comics in a long time, and the awkward attempt at a clever set-up does not help.

Runners-up: Close to Home, For Better or For Worse, Frank and Ernest (is this implying what I think it is?), Hagar the Horrible, Mother Goose and Grimm, Rhymes with Orange, Speed Bump, Zits (again this strip just comes across as curmudgeonly and out of touch)

BestMutts continues its homage to a recent movie. It's nice to see a strip aim somewhere south of the 70 year old demographic.

Runners-up: Frazz, Lio, Pearls Before Swine

Comics of the Day

Worst: Another celebrity joke. Why do we have to put up with this?

Runners-up: Blondie, Brevity, Family Circus, Frank and Ernest, Hagar the Horrible, Non Sequiter, Rhymes with Orange, Speed Bump

Best:

A lot of people seem to like Mutts, but I'm kind of indifferent to it. It's cute sometimes, but often is just sappy. Today was one of the cute days. I think I like Mooch better when he does not talk with his normal ridiculous lisp.

Runners-up: Get Fuzzy, Pearls Before Swine, Piranha Club, Pooch Cafe, Watch Your Head

Comics of the Day

Worst: Mutts lives and dies on its cuteness, which leaves it constantly walking a fine line. Some days it's cute, and it is a good strip. Some days it veers into overly cute, and it's a bad strip. Some days it's not cute at all, and it's just a waste of space. Friday was one of those days.

Runners-up: Brevity, Hagar the Horrible, Mother Goose and Grimm, Red and Rover, Rhymes with Orange

Best:

Men think about sex a lot, and this one of the standard tropes of comedy. What I liked about this strip is the subtlety of that reference.

Runners-up: Agnes, Sherman's Lagoon, Zits
